Serge Gainsbourg Bio-Pic in Pre-Production: Who's Going To Play Jane Birkin?

Seventeen years after his passing, a film is going to be made about the life of Serge Gainsbourg. It's called Serge Gainsbourg, Vie Héroïque and will be directed by Joann Sfar, a comic book writer, who created a graphic novel based on the Gitanes smoker's colourful life.

It won't be released until 2010, but casting has already been announced.
Serge is going to be played by Eric Elmosnino, whose face is familiar but I can't remember watching any of his films....

More classically good looking than Serge, but we'll see if he has the charisma, and can be aged up.


Lucy Gordon will be taking on the role of a lifetime, as Jane Birkin. She's got the right colouring, but does she have the warmth of character?

I hadn't heard of her until today, but she was in Spiderman 3. It'll be exciting to see how she plays the wonderful Jane, will she sing? Whatever the movie's like at least it'll definitely look good, unlike the wig-tastic Stoned.


Playing Bardot will be Laetitia Casta, the L'Oreal model.

I think she'll look so great as a blonde. I hope she goes for an all-over dye with redder tones like Bardot did. It would look great with her olive skin. If they cop-out and give her highlights I'll be disappointed!


Playing Bambou, the girl who was such a fan of Serge she used to hang outside his house as a teenager until he went out with her, is a dead ringer, Mylène Jampanoï. See the similarities:

Most bio-pics really are frightful, but because the director is so visionary I reckon this one may be pretty good.
